A lot of you are confused about following blogs, so I'm going to explain to you how and why you should follow your favourite blogs!

Why should I follow a blog?

There are a lot of reasons to follow a blog, and I'll tell you a few.

Are you tired of searching through blogs trying to find some new gossip? Well when you follow a blog, you don't need to do that anymore! You will have all new posts delivered to you on your dashboard. I'll explain about that later in the post.

Another good reason to follow a blog is for competitions. Lots of blogs hold competitions, and some require that you are a follower of their blog to enter. 

How do I follow a blog?

So, you've probably noticed a box like this on the side of some blogs, but you didn't know what it was all about.

So now you know a bit about why you should follow a blog, you're ready to get started. Click the follow button on the side of your favourite blog.

A new webpage should pop up that looks like this:

If you own a Google, AIM, Yahoo, Netlog or OpenID account, click that icon and sign in. If you don't, you can sign up for one. For this example, I'll click on Google.

A new page will come up with this box on the side.

If you don't have a Google account, just click 'Create an account now'

When you have done that, you can sign in.

Then, go back to the blog you want to follow, and click Follow.

A box like this will pop up:

If you click 'Follow Publicly', your picture will show up in the list of followers, and the owner will be able to see who's following their blog.

If you click 'Follow Privately', you will still recieve updates whenever that blog has a new post, but you won't show up in their list of followers, and the owner won't know you love their blog!

When you are a follower of all the blogs you love, you can log onto Blogger everyday to see the news. On your dashboard, you will see updates like the ones shown below.

The updates show the start of the post, so you can see if you think it's interesting. They also show the first picture in the post and who wrote it.
